Camp Fatima Exceptional Citizens’ Week provides a camp for physically and developmentally delayed children and young adults each August on beautiful Suncook Lake in Gilmanton I.W., New Hampshire. For 60 years, E.C. Week has made a dream come true for over 5,000 campers who are afflicted with, among other things, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, and Downs Syndrome. They are given the opportunity to experience a week of horseback riding, swimming, boating, arts and crafts, and many more special events that they otherwise would not be able to enjoy. Over 180 campers attend each year at no cost to any of them. The 250 dedicated volunteers and many generous donors allow E.C. Week to offer this great week free of charge. All of the proceeds from this Fundraising Raffle go toward the huge cost of operating E.C. Week.
EC Week is a highlight in the lives of campers every year. Each camper is treated as an Exceptional Citizen, while receiving one to one care. All of the activities are centered around the camper’s interests and they are catered to by a qualified, enthusiastic and energetic volunteer staff, many of whom also consider the week a highlight in their year, and their lives.
For Twenty Four years, this golf tournament has been held to raise funds to offset the huge operating costs of Exceptional Citizens’ Week. On June 19th, 2004, the E.C. Week family lost one of its own. Benjamin Dawley, whose parents, family, and many friends have been involved with E.C. Week for many years, passed away unexpectedly only 10 months after he was born. Ben was a happy, playful young boy who had a knack for lifting your spirits through his pleasant mood and huge smile. Although he may have been a few years young to volunteer at E.C. Week, Ben already knew what it took to brighten other people’s lives. In honor of Ben’s memory, this tournament to benefit E.C. Week will forever carry his name.
