Meet Our Staff
A child’s relationship with his or her counselor can make all the difference between a great summer camp experience and one that is only so-so. We make it a priority to hire staff that can inspire, lead, motivate, reassure, protect and laugh with our campers.
We hire teachers or mature high school and college students. Although most of our staff comes from the local area, we also hire staff members from across the country and around the world. Every staff member undergoes a thorough interview, including criminal background check, and extensive training to prepare them to help your children get the most out of their camp experience.
Year Round Personnel
Budd Ryer, Executive Director
Budd first came to Camp Fatima in 1982 as a counselor in the senior division. During his time at camp he served as Senior Division Head, CIT Director, and Resident Director. Additionally, he has served as a counselor and staff member at Fatima’s Exceptional Citizens’ Week for 20 years. Budd has had a successful career in the financial services sector working in the insurance industry for over three decades. He left that industry to become the Executive Director of Camps Bernadette and Fatima in 2020. Budd has served on the camps’ Board of Directors and chaired the Marketing and Development Committee. He believes strongly in advancing the mission of the camps which is to create a community where all are welcome, and, guided by our Catholic faith provide a fun and engaging outdoor camping experience where campers and staff learn new skills and grow in faith, confidence, and friendship.
Budd is married to his wife, Betsy. Together they have raised two adult daughters, Meredith and Meg. Budd is a member of, and worships at, St. Anthony Shrine in Boston, a prophetic Franciscan Catholic community.
Joanne Towle, Business Manager
Joanne has been the business manager and camp registrar since 2000. She is also a camp parent, with three Camp Bernadette & Fatima campers, two of whom will be returning again this summer. Joanne is delighted to combine her love of summer camps with her organizational and financial skills. She earned her AA degree from the University of New Hampshire in Manchester, and is continuing her education at New Hampshire Technical Institute. Prior to coming to camp, she worked in banking and as a parish secretary for St. Joan of Arc Church in Alton. Joanne is a member and volunteer with the American Camp Association and is a past secretary with the New Hampshire Camp Director’s Association.
Andrew Thibault, Director of Sales, Marketing, and Development
Andrew first attended Camp Fatima as a nine-year-old camper. He returned every summer and became a CIT, senior and Club 15 counselor, and Waterfront Director. Andrew returns to Camps Bernadette and Fatima after having success as a Recruiter and an Account Manager in the construction industry. He is eager for everyone who attends Bernadette and Fatima to experience the same incredible friendships and personal development that camp made possible for him. Andrew is excited to use his strong recruiting, sales, and management skills to continue expanding and developing the camps. Andrew graduated from Franciscan University and is a parishioner at St. Joseph Cathedral in Manchester, NH.
Rachel DesRuisseaux, Registrar
If you have questions or need help enrolling your child in camp, Rachel is here for you! Rachel joined our year-round staff in August 2021 to manage all facets of camp enrollment, including processing applications and payments. Rachel is a graduate of Franklin Pierce University holding a degree in Finance & Accounting. She is former camper at Camp Bernadette and has worked in our summer Fatima office at the camps. Rachel is a parishioner at Parish of the Transfiguration in Manchester, NH.
Brendan Stackhouse, Communications, Program, and Facilities Specialist
Brendan came to Camp Fatima as a camper and has stayed connected ever since. Over his 19-year relationship with Fatima, he served as a Counselor, Land Director, Junior & Senior Division Head and Program Director. Beginning in September of 2017, Brendan joined the full-time team as the Marketing Director. Drawing from his degree in studio television production from Emerson College, as well as experience in various television production positions, Brendan creates and delivers marketing presentations to potential campers and their families and develops programs to maintain alumni engagement.
Simon Therrien-Denis, Resident Director of Fatima
Simon first came from his native Montreal to Camp Fatima as a 7-year-old junior camper. He was encouraged to attend camp by his uncle and former Fatima counselor, Gilles Therrien, as well as his aunt, Michele, who had been a Bernadette camper . Over the years, Simon has worn many hats at Fatima: a camper, CIT, counselor, Intermediate and Senior Division Head, CIT Director, Program Director and Land Director. He relishes his role as Resident Director at Camp Fatima as a way to share wonderful summer experiences and close bonds with a new generation of campers. When Simon is not at Camp Fatima, he works as a political advisor in the National Assembly (Parliament) in Quebec City, Canada.
Cathi Patterson, Resident Director of Bernadette
Cathi’s camp experience started out as a camper at Bernie in the early 80’s. She then made her return in the mid-nineties as the camp office manager, and then CIT director. It is there that she met her very own Fatima Man, Steven “Icky” Patterson. Camp became a way of life for the Patterson family, raising two Bernie Girls and a Fatima Boy. Cathi worked each summer as the Fatima Office Manager, while the kids became campers and then staff members. Cathi is excited to now return to Bernie and create an atmosphere of belonging and fun for all campers. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience with her. When not at camp Cathi teaches middle school and is a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Concord.
